It really hurts to do this, considering everything everone has been through, but I have to do it. I know there's been a lot of confusion about this blog and me, so I want to lay it all to rest.
As you know, Mr. Briscoe has been working diligently to get this blog taken down despite my wishes. I understand that he's trying to protect the family, and I respect that. But, I don't want to be silenced. Not after everything I've gone through.
I just want to say thank you to everyone who has been supportive (or at least fair) of my viewpoint. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers. It is because of you that I have found the strength to continue my struggle for real justice. And for all of you who continue to vilify me, I can only hope that you will one day open your eyes and see what you have done to an innocent human being. Your callous lack of remorse in your collective attempts to destroy this family disgusts me. But I won't be afraid of you anymore.

I like taking negatives and turning them into positives. Merely by thinking positively. Helps me keep control of my life. And makes me happy, too. Here are three examples.
My dad died as a young man. Age 38. Yes, that was a negative. At least initially. For dad. And for some people around him. But hey, the marriage of my mother and father was more or less one of convenience. Not the happiest of nuptials. Anyway, my widowed mother went on to another marriage, one that lasted 33 years – probably the happiest time of her life. So, in that sense, my father’s early demise was a blessing. For mother.
My dear Jeanne had an unhappy first marriage. Her husband was unfaithful. There was a divorce. We could call that a negative in Jeanne’s life, right? On the other hand, that made Jeanne available to the likes of me. And we had a blissful, loving relationship of almost 40 years. I’d call it a perfect marriage. Last year, Jeanne’s first husband was sick and in a nursing home and I visited him, to cheer him up, and to thank him for being unfaithful to Jeanne. After all, the aftermath was sort of a double blessing. For Jeanne. And for me.
My maternal grandparents died, oh, so very young. My grandmother in her 20s, and my grandfather in his 30s. Sad, isn’t it? My mother was left an orphan and that ultimately led to her marriage to dad. If her parents had lived longer and fuller lives, mom said there was no way she would have married dad. Or conceived me. So, I’m blessed because my grandparents had the misfortune to die young.

Funny. I just viewed this blog as "someone playing the part of someone else" in order to "gather information about" themselves. Someone just wanted to "know what people were saying about her(Lori)."
Most of the information posted in the blog was merely taken from other sources and dramatized. Perhaps it was slightly over the border of libel, but it would be interesting to see it play out in an actual case. Especially with how young the laws covering cyber space are. Persuing such a case would take years. It would probably be appealed for one reason or another, and take many more years to be resolved.
Going back to Megan's case though, the rumors spread about her were the same, if not worse, because they weren't taken from other sources and then dramatized and no libel charges were made against her attackers. Perhaps in her case, the rumors were not quite as well known, but the extent of a situation shouldn't be considered when deciding whether the situation is wrong or right.
You could argue that they really didn't want to do harm, but deception and manipulation of a situation is harm in itself. The people involved in the creation of "Josh Evans" should have forseen the possible harm. Its like firing a gun in a place filled with people. You may not have intended to kill someone, but when you do, you can't use "I didn't mean to!" as an excuse. You have to own up to your actions. The same goes for those who harassed Megan. Verbal abuse is a form of torture, and torture can lead to death. If you whip someone until they die, is that murder? If you belittle someone psychologically until they commit suicide, is that any differe? I think not. Others may disagree.
Also, I think Megan had "actual" harm done to her and her family. Death is the harm that ends all harm after all and living with the lose of a daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, or cousin is awefully painful.

I'm glad you aren't amused because it wasn't meant for your enjoyment. I did, however, find it amusing that someone who uses words such as prerogative, critiquing, and inversly proportional misspelled a word my Japanese Junior High School students can spell, on the spot, anytime I ask them to.

One thing you seem to forget: No matter what the issue was before someone commits suicide is that the choice is always theirs, regardless to what lead up to it. That's the problem with the whole picture here these days. Truthfully, the only one who could really "pull the trigger" in any case of suicide is the corpse. The individual in question, whomever he or she may be, decided not to try and seek help. Instead, he/she decided to end their own life. Cold: yes. Dettached: You betcha.

This is where the thoughts really divide onto two seperate courses. In the Megan Meier case she did and was recieving help. She was on medication. This fact makes what the people behind "Josh Evans" did that much worse, if indeed Lori Drews was involved. "Why?" you ask, because Lori Drew was aware of Megan's depression, and of other possible problems she had.
In the end, the person who commits suicide is solely responsible to a point, but when someone preys on a potentially suicidal person, with the knowledge that they are suicidal, then that is harmful. You are deliberatly pushing a persons buttons to the point of no return.
Had the people behind "Josh Evans" never said anything to Megan, would she be alive now? Perhaps, but perhaps not. That question is irrelevant. The fact stands that Lori Drew knew about the profile, knew it was deception, and did nothing as an adult to fix or challenge this. She never told the Meier's about it. She never asked those involved to stop.
She may not be guilty of murder, but in my book, she's guilty of being a poor parent.

Where I respect your choice to do this I don't agree with it. No where does it say Google has to baby sit the 10's of thousands of blogs that are posted on controversial subjects. The raw human resources and time it would take to do that would be enormous. On top of that, when people make the choice to read a blog like this, they're walking on their own moral line. Some may say that by your presence here, you're just as immoral as Google for not taking it down.

People need to stop blaming other people or companies for their misfortune and take responsibility for themselves. Where I sympathize with the family who lost a child, I think their course of action is pathetic. When you make a myspace account you agree to certain terms, one of those terms is NOT "Myspace will baby sit and raise your child, protecting them from all harm." Myspace is free because it gives responsibility to its users. There are ways to prohibit people from getting in contact with you on myspace, and if you don't use those tools then its no ones fault but yourself.

I'll take your bet. The feds have certainly not issued a subpoena to google regarding this blog, or at least not in regards to the current case they are investigating. Neither the content nor author of this blog are of concern in the investigation into Megan's demise.
That said, it's also highly unlikely that the feds have issued any subpoena regarding this blog in relation to any other case, either, for the simple fact that this blog does not violate any laws that the feds have any jurisdiction over.

If in fact she did, then it is quite clearly relevant to the federal investigation since many of the things said on the blog were potentially inciminating and therefore relevant to that case.
And the fact that those postings are now deleted doesn't matter, because there are several complete copies out there on the net. The investigation most certainly will include an examination of the logs related to the creation of this blog if only just to ensure that Lori Drew did not actually create it.
As to whether any of the resulting shit storm will end up splashing on your shoes I can only speculate, but I would say that time will tell.

As a mother of a 12-year old son who committed suicide on Oct. 21, 2007, let me say that the name of this blog alone is offensive.
My son's story mirrors this one is so many ways! My son was bullied and ridicules as well, to the point where he hung himself in his closet. I, his mother, was the one to find him.
We, also, were going to be featured on Dr. Phil because of bullying he received at school, but because the school wouldn't participate, they would not feature my story.

What if YOUR child commits suicide after she got insulting post on the internet? In fact what if she just came home one day after someone bullied her at school and committed suicide? I mean really what would you do or how would you feel? Would you be mad at the person who caused your child to kill herself or would you let it go? Think about those things. You’re an adult you should act like an adult. Only someone who’s extremely immature and has nothing better to do with their life would do. Why didn’t you handle this in an adult matter if you had a problem with Megan? That’s why you go straight to the parents and if the parents don’t do anything then you let the law take it into their own hands and if the law is not going to do what they need to do then take it to court if you have too. You were supposedly friends with these people yet you couldn’t talk to them about a problem with their daughter? I mean that just doesn’t make much sense? You need to sit down and look at yourself.

I'm 16, and I have to say, whether the blog was written by Lori Drew in the first place doesn't matter. She is a MOTHER. What she did was WRONG and it is a crime, and she needs to be punished. If it had been her child, she'd be after the other mother with hellfire and damnation. Just because the Meiers have more class than Drew can ever hope to have does not mean she had a right to do this. Middle school drama is middle school drama. It is a mother's job to PROTECT not only her child but other people's children as well.
She's failed at this. She's just as bad as abusive parents, and I hope she lives with Megan's soul on her life forever.

Do we need another Great Flood? Apparently so, I can't believe I am wasting these minutes of my life to even read, let alone, respond but I too have been sucked into the wreckage. Simply put this was a terrible and completely AVOIDABLE tragedy. You Drews hopefully have crawled back under the rocks from where your DNA originated. I hope this haunts all of you the rest of your lives -- not as punishment -- but as stark reminder of the evil you knowingly sowed in this world and the irreparable harm you have caused innocent people. Those of you who feel sorry for the Drews are, IMHO, are perfect examples of backwards America. The title is sickening and obviously the contributors are bored with their loser lives that probably won't amount to much anyway so they need to stoke controversy in a deeply fractured community.
